The lead story introduces Jackson Strode, a former soldier whose young son is dying. Desperate for a cure, Strode agrees to join the secret Weapon IV Program, believing he is serving his country and helping his family. Instead, he is subjected to experiments based on the unfinished bio-organic research of Ted Sallis, the scientist who became Man-Thing.
