Bedlam #1 opens with a brutal thesis: Madder Red—a theatrical, philosophical, and utterly deranged mass‑murderer—is finally captured. The issue splits its time between the chaotic, color‑drenched violence of Madder Red’s last rampage and the eerie calm that follows years later, when he has been “rehabilitated” into the man now called Fillmore Press.

Fillmore is released back into society, medicated, monitored, and allegedly cured. But the city of Bedlam is still haunted by horrors, and a new killer emerges whose methods echo Madder Red’s old atrocities. Fillmore wants to help—needs to help—but every attempt to do good forces him to confront the monstrous identity he once embraced.
