Later that night, Rictor catches Cullen secretly communicating with Coven Akkaba, a magical sect actively looking to form an anti-mutant alliance. Cullen catches Rictor eavesdropping and tries to manipulate him by kissing him, hoping to keep him quiet. The tactic fails entirely; Rictor immediately reports the betrayal to Betsy. Rictor passionately argues that mutants have spent too long being set up by bigots and that they shouldn't play along with Cullen's rigged, anti-mutant game.
