Rob Liefeld launches Brigade with the energy of early‑Image bombast: big characters, big weapons, and a team built for war rather than ideals.
The story centers on Battlestone, a disgraced former government super‑soldier who now leads his own private strike team. Haunted by a violent past and burned bridges, Battlestone recruits a roster of volatile operatives—Seahawk, Coldsnap, Thermal, and Kayo—each with powers but even bigger trust issues. They’re not heroes; they’re a blunt instrument.
Issue #1 throws them straight into conflict when a mysterious, super‑powered threat surfaces, forcing Brigade into a mission that’s part rescue, part retaliation. As they engage the enemy, it becomes clear that Battlestone’s old government handlers are still pulling strings—and the team may be walking into a setup.
The issue ends with Brigade barely holding together, both as a unit and in the field, setting up a series built on internal tension, explosive action, and the question of whether a team built on force can ever act like a family.
